Next Thursday
Unless you’re French or Mexican, why not head over to the Hospital Club next Thursday night for this? If only to hear sensible words from John Grant - he really knows his stuff.
Yes, we know
It’s all been quiet round here lately. Rest assured though, we’ve been beavering around in the background. Ideas for this week have had to take a backseat as we’ve been working on another one-off. It’ll be worth it though, mark our words.
And Maid Marion has been dealing with some of the slimiest bank managers this side of Shoreditch Forest so we can start taking payments from some more of the brands.
Success!
Our first brand has agreed to pay up. Many thanks to Innocent who have kindly agreed to pay us, and therefore send 500 much needed pounds over to Haiti. This is what they had to day:
“We think it’s a very nice idea indeed, and we’re happy to pay you for your time in having this idea, especially as know the money is going somewhere good.”
So that was nice. Unfortunately, the account department aren’t geared up for taking payment by bank transfer so Maid Marian is on the case sorting out a proper bank account so we can take proper payments and send proper money over to Haiti.
Many thanks Innocent. Only £127, 245.33 to go until we reach our target. Let the floodgates open…
A day later than normal thanks to the holiday weekend, our one idea for this week. We’ve asked Visa to send $1635 over to Haiti.
Weeks 05 and 06
Busy, busy, busy. A few things have been going on though these last two weeks:
- We got a nice email from the nice people at Innocent. So we did them an idea. They’ve been very busy with their AGM and wotnot but we’re hoping to hear back from them soon as to whether they’ll pay up.
- We’ve got another permanent member of the team; introducing Maid Marian. She’s come on board to add some much needed rigor.
- Blackberry clearly sensed she was on their case and sent a nice email saying ‘thanks, but no thanks’. Our first declined invoice.
- We sent our first money to Haiti thanks to the generous Mr Steve Morton, who is now valued at £127,700,000.
- We’ve been on holidays and contended with bank holidays. God knows how we’ll cope once the football begins.
- We’ve got plenty of ideas in the pipeline, but our Keynote skills aren’t fast enough.
Blackberry Update - Payment Declined
“Thank you very much for thinking of RIM for this unique endeavour. At this time, we have facilitated our contributions for Haiti Relief through the Canadian Red Cross and have selected that avenue as our avenue of support.
Best wishes for a successful fundraising campaign.”
Holidays
With a batch of holidays amongst the Merry Men, the team are taking a collective breather this weekend. More ideas come Monday 31st. Until then…
And here’s the Innocent idea in all its glory.
We were chuffed to get an email from Dan Germain at Innocent expressing an interest in one of our ideas, although as they’re not strictly speaking one of the top 100 brands it did pose certain questions about our billing structure. In the end (despite a helpful suggestion from the UK’s most accurate text question and answer service), we absolved ourselves of any sort of responsibility and suggested they have a grown up discussion at their grown up meeting this Saturday.
Now we’re not sure what they’ll pay. In fact, we’re not sure if they’ll pay. We’re not even sure if they’ll have time to discuss it (they need to decide what recipes to make and important stuff like that). But we will keep you posted; buoyed by our recent £12.77 windfall, the Accounts Department are now chomping at the bit…
We’re off!
It might not be Google, McDonalds or Nike but we have sent our first money over to Haiti. A big thanks to Mr Steve Morton for his £12.77 donation. And we didn’t even send him an idea.
Based on our 1/10,000,000 invoice principle, that either makes the Steve Morton brand worth £127,700,000 or he’s simply a very generous chap.
Before we get too carried away though, the accounts department reminds us that we’re officially 0% on the way to our target. Let’s hope the brands follows Steve’s lead and pay up soon.
One idea for one of the top 100 brands this week - for Oracle. But keep an eye out for a one-off special later in the week.
Week 004
No sooner had we got our account person on board than she promptly buggered off on holiday to Spain thwarting any hopes we had for tightening up the billing procedures last week. As such, it was no real surprise when our fourth week went by without any invoices being paid once more. Expect all to change upon her return.
We’ve still got lots of nice coverage though, like this feature from the Marketing Society and this piece from Brainpickings. Next week, we’re going to try and show the brands in question why they’re missing out by not tapping into all this interest.
Finally, we might only have done the one idea today but look out for something exciting later in the week. We can’t say too much yet, suffice to say we’re hopeful some money might start making its way to Haiti. Even if it’s not from one of our top 100 ideas…
Canadians are clearly the most giving people. Let’s hope this is born out over at Research in Motion and they send some money to Haiti for our Blackberry idea.
